The Society's first exhibition in the New Year will show from 25th February to 13th March at the Herring Island Gallery. Our exhibibition will be part of the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival: artists from CAS and three other leading Melbourne-based arts organizations will show their work in the gallery on the Island, reawakening of the original concept of an arts venue in a bushland setting close to the heart of Melbourne.

The theme for our exhibition is to be a contemporary interpretation of nature in painting, drawing and sculpture and the exhibition is open to all exhibiting members of the Contemporary Art Societry of Victoria. Entry information/forms will be posted on this website soon.

Exhibition dates/times are:
Opening.... 12 noon - 2 pm on 25 February
Exhibition continues.... 26 February & 4, 5, 11, 12, and 13 March
Punt to Island runs 12 noon - 5 pm from Como Landing on these days.

Herring Island Gallery is the converted scout hall. The fireplace and the marks on the floor are the give-away signs – the architecture is now inspired by the place – a gift to the arts by the Myer Foundation and the genius of architect, Greg Burgess.

The festival will complement the existing permanent collection of sculpture placed around the Island.
